Vinyl Tubing vs. PVC pipes for plumbing tanks to the sumps

Well I just found out today I will have no choice but to use tubing instead of the PVC because of the bulkheads that came in the overflow kit that I got they are only for barb fittings. What do the barb fittings look like and can you get them at home depot?

Vinyl tube to barb and then to another PVC to barb fitting. PVC the rest of the way.

And

Vinyl to return pump to another PVC to barb fitting for vibration reduction. But only if needed.
