water changes

Can you get diatoms after doing water changes? I do weekly %25 water changes and I have some diatoms starting to appear on my sand, nothing crazy. I am just curious

Diatoms appear from silicates in the water. This is very common in newly set up tanks and it will go away through water changes and time. Just have patience.

They are either coming in from the water source or something recently got stirred up.

Actually now that I think about it, I was waiting on new filters for my ro/di so I went and bought ro/di water from a machine instead of brewing my own so that might have had something to do with it
