WATER EVAPORATION
How much water evaporates in one day if you look at the level line in the sump.

That all depends on the size/surface area of the tank, open top or lid, fan or no fan, etc.
On my 10gallon I had about 1/2 gallon a day. I had open top and fan in my room full blast 24/7 |

I loose about 5 gallons every 3 days.....but I have a [acronym:f6029ffe08="Power compact fluorescent"]PC[/acronym:f6029ffe08] lighting with no top, so the water is exposed to the open air. Plus it gets cold here at night in the winter, so my heater is working overtime to try to keep the temp at 80.

I loose about 7-8 gallons a day. As stated earlier it all depends on your setup.

Wow, that is more than I would have thought. We just had a very hot week here between Christmas and New Year and my [acronym:e37cda9886="Specific gravity"]sg[/acronym:e37cda9886] really jumped. I was topping off but obviously nowhere near enough. I'll know better now

you should get the [acronym:27ad545d8b="Specific gravity"]SG[/acronym:27ad545d8b] where you want it and then put a mark on the tank (a piece of tape is good) and just top off to that level. You won't have to check the [acronym:27ad545d8b="Specific gravity"]SG[/acronym:27ad545d8b] as often that way.

I lose about a gallon a day on my 46 bowfront with no top. I was kind of shocked at first at the amount of water lost from the tank.
