Water flow

Now I am new to the whole saltwater and I just started a tank, it's a 55gal FOWLR and I have a question about the fans? How do I have them pointed and where should I put them, I have 2 rated for my tank and right now it looks like good movement but I am wondering if there is a correct want to place them

I'm at college right now but it's the normal 55gal size, and I have the fans in the center of the side walls kinda pointed down

As long as its not mixing up your substrate too much and not annoying any corals (which i guess you dont have yet) then you should be fine. In a fish only aquarium flow is mainly to stop the fish waste and unconsumed food from gathering on the rocks. That would cause high nitrates!

No two systems are the same ! Rockwork etc will all interupt flow your aiming for no dead spots so you may have to move them around a few times until your happy with it ! I have my return going across the top middle and a maxijet in each back corner aiming at front middle and a small koralia pointing at the bottom corner to get rid of a dead spot ! It's took ages to get it right but this seems to be working for me ! Here's a pic to give you an idea !

I have 4 power heads
2 face towards the front of tank at different angles off the back wall
1 in front facing the length of the tank downwards
1 in back of rocks 6 in from bottom facing the length of the tank upwards
the main 3 are 500 gph
the other 1 behind rocks is 250 gph
this is in my 37 gal tank all areas are covered well no dead spots
even the rocks
no high current prob either
everyone and everything is happy
