Water levels

I had added uncured Haitian Rock to my tank on Wednesday and yesterday i noticed something wasnt right. i tested my water and the nitrates, nitrates and ammonia were super high. i changed out about 20 gallons of water (its a 75 gallon tank) and the levels went down a bit. i bought this product called cycle which detoxifies the water, i already had prime, and my bro-in-law gave me 2 algone packets which drop the nitrates. Anything else i should do to bring down the water levels?

Any time you add uncured LR then you are going to have a spike because of the die off. Has your tank cycled yet? If it already has cycled then you needed to cure the LR first in a separate tub or tank. I`m assuming that from your info button that you`ve already cycled. You might want to think about pulling it out and curing it first. If not then you`ll need to pull out the inverts and the high ammonia, nitrites and nitrates will be devastating to them. Read this on curing LR

How old is your tank? I be that new LR had some die-off that caused the spikes. I don't know anything about those products, but you might want to look at frequent PWCs and maybe add some Purigen .

I agree with Mike. Concentraite on the PWCs and things should go back to normal.

Just make sure if you add any more LR you must cure it first. Read that article I gave you.

i changed some more water out yesterday, i must have done about 25 gallons this weekend. i havent checked my water today, but my snails have been in the same place for the last 2 days! i checked on them to see if they were alive and they all are. my goby is still alive. i added the algone yesterday morning and when i checked my water yesterday afternoon, the nitrates when down a bit as did the ammonia.

My Mexican turbo snails aren't looking to healthy. i am going to do a PWC when i get home. How often should i do a PWC?
