I do not have a wavemaker yet, and wondered if perhaps I should turn off the pumps at night. I have a HOT Magnum, which has quite a lot of outflow, a Remora skimmer, and two powerheads on all the time now. The rose anemone seems to like the (indirect) motion, but retreats somewhat into her rock cave at night. Would she prefer a break from the constant flow?

Well, i personally wouldn't do anything if it like the flow of the water. Do you have any fish yet or are you planning to? The wavemaker would just alter the powerheads, ya know, simulating real life tides. Retreating into to the cave could be a natural instinct or it could be that the anenome is actually afraid of a fish in your aquarium, one could be picking on it. HTH
