Water problem

Having a weird problem. It seems like dirt is floating to the top of the water... Canister filter seems to be working fine. I don't understand how this problem came out of know where. When I put my net half in the water i come up with dirt. Last week I changed the location of my 2 powerheads for the first time ever to see if I would get better circulation. Could changing there direction really cause this to happen or no? Also I seem to be growing red algae for the first time ever on my live rock and sand. PLEASE HELP!!! I put my powerheads back where I normal had them just to see what happens

How long have u had the tank running? The dirt could be from your substrate.. did u rinse ur substrate before putting it in the tank?

Just to let everyone know, a few hours after moving my powerheads back the problem went away. Weird huh?
