I am looking at using a canister filter to run GAC and Phos remover and then to feed my fuge before returning the water back to the tank. Since the canister uses a syphon to get water out of the tank, what happens when the power goes out? Does it continue to draw water or is the pump sufficient to stop the water and hold the syphon until power is restored? I do not have the option of an overflow dedicated to the canister, but it will pull out of an integrated sump that has an overflow feeding it. TIA for your help.

My magnum 350 will stop when power goes out and then self start again when the power comes back on as long as the lid of the can was not taken off. So, yes, it is self priming and will start over again.

Not sure about others but I would think they would work the same as well.
