I would like to get a sea star this week. I was told on another post that brittle (not green) or a serpent starfish would be good.
What about a colored linchkia, chocolate chip, etc.

My tank isn't very wide or tall (15 inches) so I don't want anything that will grow too big. Look at my info for specifics.

I'm looking for a cute guy to eat some detritus.

Any suggestions and can I have more than one kind?

:)

If you add a chocolate chip star, it will need to go if you ever decide to go reef. And like I mentioned in the other post, linkias need a bigger more mature system to do well.

I have many different colors of serpent stars. Quite a few of the brittlestars and even the emerald green brittle star. (The emerald is in an eel tank though.) Fromia's come in many color variations too. It is ok to mix different types of serpent stars together.

I would stay away from the choc chip too. It is an opportunistic feeder and will eat whatever is still enough for it to climb on to.

I would stick with the small brittles. They may not be cute, but they have their place in a reef tank as a scavenger.
