This zoanthid (I think) recently made an appearance in my tank, and with it came this puplish/red hairy algae that's kinda tough to pull off. What kind of zoanthid? What's up with the algae?

I could be wrong but it looks a lot like a Majano anemone which is a pest and should be removed. The algae could be red turf algae which also is a nuisance . Give them both a good google search and see if they look the same.

Its not an aiptasia, its a palythoa, much like a zoanthid. The algae looks like red hair algae for the most part. I would try to remove all that you can. The paly is fine though it is a polyp and will reproduce with time and good parameters.

Beautiful Paly!! A nice colony of those would look great. Hope you can get it to multiply.
Good luck!
