I have a 75gal FOWLR. I know there are plants that can help bring the Nitrates down. What plants can I use and can I just put them in the tank. I do not heave room for an external Refugium tank so is there a way to put the plants in the main tank itself?

Thanks

What kind of fish do you have... Caluerpa or macro algae help with nitrates but they may be eatten by the fish you have. And some can take over a tank if not cut back to keep them in check.
the answer is yes...

I have a niger trigger, picaso trigger, stars & strips puffer, gobie, snowflake eel, and 3 tiny damels. Could I do one of those hang on external Refugium?

The HOB fuges will not do a lot to help with NO3 export. You really need a larger under the tank fuge to see adifference. I can see why your NO3 is a bit high with all those messy eaters. Your best bet is to add some more LR and to cut back on feedings. What is your feeding schedule and what is your substrate?
