why did it get so loud in here...

my tank is in my living room. i previously had a 45 gallon tank and now i have 72 gallon bowfront tank. i had a ugly hang on skimmer on my 45 and i just put it in my sump for my 72 gallon tank. and now i have to put more water in my sump so the pump will touch the water and all of a sudden my overflow box is swooshing water so much louder now. i dun know why its doin that never used to be this loud... any answers to why...?

Can you explain your setup some more. Im a bit confused. Did you have a sump on the 45? When you say it never used to be that loud did you have the same overflow in the 45 or is the overflow new like the 72 is?

What pump are you using to supply the tank from the sump. Can you describe your overflow more? Is it a reef ready tank or a hang on overflow?
