They are chocolate chip stars if that helps at all. Every other tank in my house is very healthy including the one about 4 feet from the one this happened 2. To be safe I completely drained the tank and am pretty much going to start from scratch because I just don't have a clue what it could be

Do you have stars in the other tanks as well? It just seems like a very odd occurrence as they're a pretty common starfish and I've never heard of them crashing a tank:

Yes I am a huge fan of them because they are cool look so I have at least 2 in all of them more in some of my bigger tanks and they are all from the same place as well. I know it's strange and it's really bothering me
