zos, does color indicate species?

pretty much what is in the subject.

the lfs gave me a snail shell with a couple of brilliant orange zos with incredible orange centers. these things practically glow in the dark. the thing is they are multiplying (this is good). the bad thing is some plain brown with mint green centers are popping up. is this a different species, or some type of genetic morph?

Color usually just represents a different color morph of the same species.

is it possible to weed the ugly ones out to get a more pure stain?
