You have to catch Chris there without his girlfriend present. She's only had one happy day since I've been going there, and that's a long time.

Ahhh, ok. That makes sense. I think she seemed vaguely cheerful one of the times that I've been there. I'll have to try to talk to Chris next time I'm there.

i've been to All Pets Club in wallingford & was pleased w/ the FW selection. & i hear the branford APC has more tanks.

also been to a few in hartford & east hartford, but i cant remember all the names.

one in east hartford was Fin & Feather.. i THINK :) .. & if i'm correct w/ the name, they had a decent selection of both FW & SW. however, IMO, almost all the africans were severely overpriced & no where near as nice as other stores. i will say the tanks were healthy.

then theres another right down the road w/ a HUGE FW selection but me & my friends cant remember the name & its killing me!!! :(

If you can remember the name of that, post it here, I'd love to take a field trip to a new store.

its puppy center & aquarium in west hartford (posted above)

had a real big FW selection & TONS of africans when i went a few months ago .. had some WILD ones that were rare, too

I might be moving to CT in the spring. The brooklyn area, near killingly, pomfret. I might continue to make the trip to my current LFS. Any in CT that'd be worth checking out?

haha like 5 minuets away putnam area

went to All Pets Club in wallingford again recently to check out their lizard selection (which was awesome) & so my friend could get fish .. they had some wild species i never get to see, plus plenty of cool community fish & cichlids in a variety of sizes .. some of the equipment & fish are a bit pricey w/o the membership card but obviously thats the point lol

Awesome, I'm definitely going to have to take a trip and check them out.

I recently visited Puppy Place and Exotic Fin & Feather (which now btw is called Exotic Superpet).

Puppy Place has nice selection of fish but not so much coral. They haven't exactly recuperated from the October storm last year. They have alot of frags but not so much big pieces and nothing really rare, same usual corals.

Exotic Superpet has great selection of corals and fish as well. Owner's name is Tony and seems like his fish could use a little more oxygen in their tanks but we bought a Hippo Tang off him and seems to be doing very well. :fish2:I will definiately be going back to Exotic to get some of my livestock

Just a heads up, Waterbury Aquarium has definitely upgraded their plant selection. It's a good range of stuff and is actually labelled instead of just all being thrown in the tank together. There was even a lace plant last time I was there. The prices are higher than you'd find online, of course, but no shipping and you know what it's going to look like in your tank. I'm definitely going to be spending more time there.

the owner Chris always takes amazing care of me. he orders whatever i ask for & will do deals for his repeat customers. i trade fish for fish or for credit & always leave happy. not to mention the stock he keeps is always great.

he also has a nice selection of tanks, backgrounds, cool decorations & all the supplies you could need.

i dont mean to be overly excited about one place but the dude's shop is the best around & def worth a 20-30 minute ride for me. if you go, tell him RONNIE ROACH sent ya. might get yourself a discount lol

+1

I just bought plants and bulbs to upgrade to real planted tanks (instead of "let's stick this plant in there and see if it will grow in this dingy light" planted tanks). Chris was super helpful about the bulbs and all the plants. I just love the guy.

I go to aquatic wildlife in Manchester,CT. Derek the owner is very knowledgable on fresh and salt. I purchased my 60" 100 Gallon with solid wood stand, glass canopy and t8 lights for $599.00, he has a few left still.

Let him know I sent you in,

Brian Munchie

What's their stock like? Fresh, salt, plants?

He does it all! Over 11,000 gallons of fresh and salt. From small fish to monsters! He gets his live plan and coral shipment on Fridays. He carries quite a few cool lines of foods and "chemicals" even the "Easy Life" line of aquatic chemicals, now all I use!

Awesome, sounds good. I might have to take a field trip at some point. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah I just found this place last weekend while on a search for java moss. Theyve got an amazing amount of tanks. Was very cool. Would have liked to stay longer but had an impatient escort with me. Def going to head back there when I have a bit more time.

How about Greenwich Aquaria- decent?

Any other local places worth checking out?
