Anyone in the Gainesville, Fl. area keep natives? Got any good info resources, etc?

I'm just getting back into aquariums, and I'm contemplating the possibility of keeping some "local" fish (maybe try to mimic a spring?) after I get a small tank setup and prove to myself that I can keep fishies without killing them...

(Oh, and thanks to the forum mod for quickly activating me)

I've seen Gar at Aquatropics. As far as Brim or Sunfish go, I don't think it's legal to buy them, but you can keep them in aquariums. I have a buddy with 2 Brim in his 55, and they're doing great.

Yeah, you can't buy/sell game fish, but they are legal to keep if you catch 'em legal and have a fishing license.

Thanks for the reply!

Actually, I have done alot of research into trying to do a North American Game fish tank and I have spoken to FWC and these vendors as well. You can purchase game fish for aquariums in the state of Florida... I found these sites:

http://www.minnesotamuskiefarm.com/aquariums.html

http://jonahsaquarium.com/fishlist.htm

http://www.smithcreekfishfarm.com/aquarium_fish.htm

(not sure if they sell in small quantities, but they list them as singles in their price list)
http://www.fingerlakesaquaculture.com/

same with this site..

I have sorta talked myself out of it right now simply because it would require a LARGE chiller and a VERY VERY large tank... (due to the fact that most of the fish i was looking at need water below 75 deg to thrive) I like the idea though and being originally from the midwest and having seen these fish first hand in the wild, I know it would definitely be an eye catching conversation piece!!! :)
