Aquarium Stock Co. in LA

Does anyone know what happened to the Aquarium Stock Company on Beverly Blvd. in Los Angeles? I'd been a bunch of times, without question it was the best freshwater tropical store in LA (at least that i'd found). Everything i'd read/heard sounded like they'd been open forever. I hadn't been in maybe a month or two, I drove there last night and there was a note posted on the door that they were closed, thanking everyone for their patronage. The store was completely gutted.

Does anyone know what happened, and does anyone have any other suggestions for good shops in LA (I'm on the west side).
