Isolating an aggressive cichlid

My 3" electric yellow is asserting its territory to the chagrin of the larger two blood parrots and pleco. The parrots are shy and just hide behind the plants until feeding time to avoid the yellow as much as possible. I was thinking of putting a divider to keep the yellow isolated until I get a bigger tank (55 gal). Bad idea?

First off, welcome to AA. Secondly, how big is your current aquarium?

20 gallon. Tank is cycling so I'm doing daily water changes to keep ammonia down. Temporary setup until 55 comes.

I assume the yellow lab is 2 to 3 inches, is that correct? If so, you should be fine isolating it in that manner for a very short time. How long before your 55 shows up?
