I just went down to Hollywood to a few stores that I remembered had good selection and prices and was suprised. Yo's Aquarium on Santa Monica blvd had really good prices on Freshwater fish. The only thing is they did not give a guarantee. If you wanted, they would add 50% to the price and give a guarantee, which would still come out below all of my more local LFS'.
Some examples:
Cardinal Tetras or Rummynose tetras 1.99 or 10 for 14.99~1.49 each
Some discus for 9.99- not highest quality but I found a few that were good quality.
Albino, black and yellow lace and common angels quarter plus size~6
Cherry shrimp-2.99
They had a pretty large selection and their tanks were stocked deep. Their quality of discus was better than that of the stores in the general area, but looked to be hormoned-but most are in our area.
I would suggest you check it out, I walked away with 10 cardinals 2 cherry shrimp and a discus for the price of 10 cardinals in my area alone.
