Anyway, back to the thread, ghost shrimp should be no problem finding. Petsmart, Petco, Petland, Petsupermarket, etc. will carry them and any of the local shops should definitely carry them (most likely as feeders). They are really cheap, ranging 5-30 cents. Not a bad idea to throw these in anyway, even if the betta doesn't like them as roomies. My pearl fighter loves these guys as a snack about once a month.

I have ghost shrimp with my betta. I loved them so much I got them for my 55g as well

ghost shrimp are the way to go, no sense in paying a bunch of money for potential betta snacks. If he seems to get along with them then at some point try some other stuff, bettas seem to be on a case-by-case basis.

I have one that lives happily in a 125g tank with discus and angelfish =)
