Indoor aquarium, 100 gallon. 6 feet by 1.6 feet

No fish yet. Hoping to get a koi, & 2 other fish. What are your thoughts?

Koi get huge, quickly. We have koi in our pond that are over 18" at only 3 years old. It's fairly common for them to grow to 36" and several pounds. Not many aquariums are big enough to house them for long. There are several very nice types of fancy goldfish however that don't grow nearly so large, and would look nice in a large tank.

It's not as much gallonage as it is space. Koi get very large very quickly so to have one small one in that tank for a short amount of time is fine but if you are planning long term, I'd go with different fish than Koi. Many of the fancy Goldfish will do just fine in that size size tank as they don't get as large. (y)

100 gallons is too small for koi. I recommend goldfish of any variety instead of koi because of their maximum size. They grow fast too, especially if they don't have a winter to hibernate through and slow down growth.
