Lack of care I'm sad to admit. I usually do water changes every Sunday but I got caught up with going out of town and the likes. The plants are in the process of recovery though!

I had that same fugly blue/white gravel, got rid of it and put sand in it's place WOW what a difference.

Ordered the filter tonight should hopefully be in in the next few days then rebuild begins

An update got the back painted today new filter should be here on monday will start getting substrate ready this weekend since it takes forever to rinse lol

How many coats did you paint and how long in between?

Bout 2 coats and i just waited for it to dry i used the paint flat black paint we have at work that we use for our fireplaces i dont remember the name will get the name when i get a chance used the same on my 55g that took a whole can to get a good even look on it

OK so its been quite awhile been very busy haven't gotten live plants yet will soon though I have 4 neons now 3 amino shrimp and my mystery snail whatcha all think

Its been quite awhile now so here's an update 2 of the neons came down with neon tetra disease and died theme other two my very first two after well over a year and couple tank transitions passed on a few days ago so I put the 3 amano shrimp in my 55g the mystery snail actually turned out to be a giant Columbian ramshorn Apple snail rehomed him to my dads tank since he's a terror on plants so I completely tore it down and redid it all just need to order plants and cycle the tank starting from scratch, my planned stock is Red cherry shrimp and blue Mexican platys heres a few pics
