I have a 10i whisper filter in my 10 gallon fish aquarium.

There are no fish in the tank at the moment, as I have yet to cycle them.

I want 2 dwarf frogs, a betta ( Maybe a crown tail ), 2 clams, and a snail.

I heard that some fish may get caught up in the suction of a filter. I also read that only sick ones get into this scenario.

Is there any truth to this? If my tank is properly cycled and my betta fish is relatively healthy, will they get into trouble with my filter??

You should try and prevent any fish getting sucked in as I have seen it happen with a knife fish, has it got a mesh?

There is currently no mesh. I was told that pantyhose around the filter would be good, but wouldnt that prevent 100% suction from the filter??

That filter should be fine. There is no way a Betta could get sucked into it through the little intake cracks.
