Id just go with a pair, you can still stock schoolers around it also, its not a bioload issue.

The thing is i wanted a male because i wanted to breed. But i thought it would look empty. So i thought about getting another female

I agree, just a pair, i have 2 in a 30 and they patrol the entire floor lol.

Its because its a tall tank. The foot prin is smaller then a regular tank.

Well i am bringing the neons back because if they do breed unexpectedly i wont have any problems.

id add a few more neons, they like larger groups, 7+ IMO is what they need

From what i learned, GBR will take care of their fry and do all the raising, but sometimes they are terrible parents and it will take them a few times untill they get it right, for the most part they should chase off the neons.

rams are notoriously bad parents, if you want to raise them then I suggest setting up a rearing tank. Think about it, rams are very common fish for people to have but you hardly ever see anyone selling them on a hobbyist level.
