Here are the pics (I threw some plant pics in as well) most of them are of the Molly... Is she prego? I picked the smallest of every type, and I noticed they'd gotten new skirts since the last time, which was good, so I made sure to get them.

That ideology misses the forest for the trees.

You have to realize that when you buy one, they replace it with another, if not twice as many, since they are making money off of it. That means by your actions of 'saving' one betta, you are also encouraging them to sell even more cup bettas.

As consumers, we DO have the power to dictate what the stores do and do not sell. A look at walmart's fish department over the past few years is an example of that. They've reduced or completely eliminated live fish from many stores already.

If people stop buying them and express a strong opinion against it and the stores ethics in general, then something will be done. The stores are in it for the money (it's a business), after all.

The only solution is to boycott it and to educate everyone you know.

So many people think of fish that way but never any "green" products which are basically all bull to.

Ok, update... Molly dropped! I also had a bit of an algae outbreak, so I went to a split photo period and got a few ottos to clean up the mess, while I lie in wait for my pleco to make an appearance on aquabid lol. Now I just need SM to get the rams in and I'll be set.

Ottos are in... Gosh they clean like mad! Their little bellies never seem to get full! Also, I'm headed on vacation tomorrow for 6 days. Can't hire a sitter so I'm just gonna have to leave them. I've raised the water level a bit higher then usual so the water can evaporate without causing damage. Putting in a precautionary dose of prime just in case. I'll see if I can get the lights on a timer by tomorrow, but if not, lights on or off?

Ok, I'm back! Everybody lived! Yay! (I swear the baby mollies grew half an inch lol) everyone was doing great, I just have this bright green algae forming on the sand... How do I get rid of it?

My anubias isn't attaching to the rock it's tied to... Instead it's sending roots into the sand... Why?

I knew it'd happen. The tetras are sorting out their Hierarchy... meaning lots of nipping. I'll probably move the Molly and the betta over to the ten until they get this figured out. They're getting hit a bit as well. Hierarchy
