I just bought a used 35 gallon hexagon tank, and would like to have a low light/low maintenance planted tank. The only problem is that the socket in the hood only allows 15W bulbs. Would I be able to get away with this with low light plants such as Anubias, Ferns, etc?

Welcome to AA!

Unfortunately, without upgrading the lighting I don't think so. IIRC, 35Hex tanks are very tall, right? Having only 15W over it at that kind of depth, other than mosses I doubt anything else would work very well.

YOu can easily upgrade the lighting, using screw-in type CF twist bulbs you can get from your local hardware store, however.

FYI, the tank is 20 inches tall. So I guess I will have to get screw in fluorescents then.
