anyone tried 3M ColorQuartz as a substrate? I have heard good things about it but wanted some personal experiences, if anyone has any.

I am currently running crushed coral in my cichlid tank and as much as I like the buffering, Id like to run something that is A) easier to clean and B) darker. The CC is just messy and with my rockwork its hard to get to a lot of places in my tank with the python.

any suggestions? Pictures?

Thanks!

M

We have it in 3 of our tanks and absolutely love it! Right now we have the S-grade black sand in 3 tanks. The plan is to put it in the other 3 tanks as soon as we have time and can make another run to the "not-so-local" supplier. We need at least 2 more bags for (1) 29G and (2) 20G tanks.

You can check out the links in my sig for some pics.....

I found a supplier that is going to ship me a sample of black in both sizes so i can decide which one I want. I do know I want a black substrate, but I am currently using Crushed Coral to buffer the pH. I will probably pick up another 2217 to use stricly for buffering and fill it with CC.

maxwell, I clicked on the "view my gallery" link but didnt find any pics with the black. maybe im just a fool and cant find them but can you point me in the right direction?

Jbarr, Check this link for product info:

here is the number to 3M. they can help you find a dealer in your area. the closest one to me is 2 hours (cleveland, OH) but they ship so i may go that route once I get my samples.
