40 gallon puffer tank

It needs a lot of cleaning, but this tank is going to be the permanent home for our avocado puffers, Thing 1 and Thing 2. Tank is a 40 gallon long (48x12x12). We have a Fluval 405 that we're going to use, and I'll put some sand and driftwood in there as well. No plants- we tried some hornwort with the puffs and they made a total mess of it.

5 light coats of Krylon Fusion and the background is done.

Change of plans on the Fluval, I need to get a couple of parts for it before it can be used again. Luckily we have a couple of Rena XP3s just sitting around, so I used one of those instead. Substrate is a mix of stuff we had laying around (pfs and a couple types of gravel), and I've got it filling up now.

*edit* tank is full and I'm acclimating puffers. Still a little cloudy but no big deal.

Nice - tank looks good, but I have a question on the dimensions, isn't that 32 gallon or something like that? I seem to remember running a couple of those 12x12x48 tanks (same footprint as the 55gal), and they were only 30 some gallons.

you are correct 33 longs are 48x12x12, 40 longs are 48x12x16

Renegade, you're right, I think the 33 gallon long is 48x12x12. Now that you mention it, I realize that I gave the wrong dimensions. This tank is definitely taller than it is wide.

My videos stink, so here are a few (bad) phone pics. We were fortunate enough to have a club friend that gave us about 200 snails today. I never actually thought I would run out of pest snails!

I have no idea what the deal is with the smudges on the front glass. I didn't see them until it was already set up, and glass cleaner (sprayed on a paper towel, far away from the tank) didn't remove any of it. :/
