I purchased a light fixture off of CL that has a 50/50 light in it. It is in a fresh water tank with some plants in it. Is there any negative to having it a 50/50 light compared to a normal light? And is being on from 7am till 8pm to long for the light to be on, there is some indirect sunlight that gets into the room.

I use 50/50 bulbs in fw all the time. They are bluer so they bring out cool colors much better. Plants prefer 6500K, but it should only be an issue if it barely enough to begin with.

If you plan on growing plants in your tank, then it will make a difference. Generally, and I mean generally, to grow medium light plants, you want to have about 2 watts+ of lights per gallon of water.
