50Gallon tank - Oscar advice needed

Hi
My partner is currently mid cycle (fishless) on his 50 gallon tank.
He's desperate for an Oscar.....is this tank going to be big enough for an Oscar? Thanks

Filter is a cristal 901 external filter so the tank is suitably filtered

These fish can grow up to 18 inches in length. Do people still cram them into 50 gallon tanks? Sure they do, but they shouldn't. So many more options with a tank that size! Your partner should consider other smaller types, or simply get an aquarium that's suitable for the type of fish he/she really wants.
