Yea your tank is the length of my 55g 48 inches, I think a 65g though is slightly taller though, an a 2228 is the same filter as my 2217 GPH wise you just has baskets and stuff. So imagine how much flow I had in a 30 inch long corner tank like my pentagon lol.. Although my pentagon is like 26 inches deep "deep means front to back not the height" vs yours which is probly only 18.
I don't point my spray bar at the glass because all that does it just make water shoot down the sides... If you put the spray bar down in the water like 2-3 inches and point it up more so the water shoots up.. itll still agitate the surface.. and still push water to the other side of the tank... just not so aggressively like it would you point it directly to the other side of the tank
