Hi everyone,

My tank has been going now for over a year and I have finally committed to rescaling it. Its heavily planted low tech tank.

Is there any harm is removing plants before fish? I am thinking I would need to pull some out in order to have a good chance at catching all fish quickly and with minimal stress. I am concerned about water quality as I start pulling established plants out. Thoughts?

Last week we changed the 29 gallon from gravel to black sand. It took about 2 hours. We took out about half the water into buckets to put back later. Then we took out the live plants and pot them in the buckets of tank water. Same with the driftwood. So then it was relatively easy to catch the fish and they went into another bucket. Everything went fine and the fish and plants seem just fine. Hope this helps.
