they most likely won't get along. Then agian I've seen groups of tiger barbs and a betta get along perfectly for years. One other thing I've heard of is that betta's don't really like alot of current or tall tanks, they prefer to just have still water and not use there muscles if they don't have to. I've kept a betta in a 10 gallon and a 29 gallon before with other fish and it seemed to do fine for the most part. The betta always stayed on the other side of the tank away from the filter though.
