I'm re-setting up my 36 gallon bow front tank..it came with a Aqua Clear 50 filter. I would like to add another filter but something cheaper that is effective and can help out. Any suggestions? The reason I want extra filtration is because I'm going to have quite alot of fish in it. We have a walmart and petco around here.

A small canister would be very efficient and reliable but not exactly "cheap" compared to simply adding another HOB

Keep in mind that an extra filter will take care of more bio-load and convert more amonia and nitrite but it doesn't take care of nitrate which will build up faster the more you stock, meaning if you over stock you will have to do more frequent water changes, possibly 2 or 3 times a week if you really cram the fish in there. If there is room I would just add another HOB.
