I've collected some brown, dried out oak leaves from a under a neighbors tree. Anything I need to do to them before adding them to my aquarium?

Just trying to make a natural looking South American river environment and read Indian Almond leaves would be best but dont have access to any right now.

Thank you.

10 Red eye Tetras and 3 Coryadoras. I lightly planted it and used gravel before I got more into the hobby and realized where my fish were even from. Now I'm slowly trying to transition my aquarium into more of a native habitat for my fishes, I've had most of them for around 10 months.
