Aggressive Kissing Gourami

I have 2 kissing gourami in a 75g tank. One is male the other is female. Odd enough though when it's day time the male will chase the female into hiding, but at night he is perfectly fine with her being out. I'm not sure if I should rehome him or not. I've tried taking him out of the tank and putting him back in after 30 minutes. For about 10 minutes he's calm and then starts chasing her again.

Maybe some sort of breeding?

I would remove the aggressor.
