Air Pump

Hi- I have a question for you guys about air pumps. I have a noisy profile 1000 in my room which I shut off at nite to gain a good nite's rest. I have it running a 10 gallon tank equipped with an undergravel filter. My question is does it harm the PH or the filter bed at all by shutting it off at nite?

It does harm your tank overall since it is powering your filtration...shutting off your filtration for 8-10 hours each day is having an impact. Perhaps you should power your UGF with powerheads or buy a new airpump.

If you are looking for quiet air pumps I suggest you look at the Rena Air series. I've found them to be very quiet and easy to maintain.
