Hi All,

I've got a 130 litre fresh water tank it's 3 months old.

I'm just staring to get brown stains on the front glass and I'm assuming its algae!

Any tips for stopping it before it gets worse?

I have noodles and carbon with acrylic poly pads in my filter.

Thanks :)

What you have is most likely Diatom algae which is very very common in new tanks. It will usually grow until it exhausts itself out and dies off. If you are that worried about it you can cut back the lighting period to around 6 hours and just scrape it off of the glass. I have also had luck with nerite snails eating it.

Ok, thanks :) Ive just got new tubes for my lights so assuming they are stronger, I've only had it with the new lighting so I'll reduce lighting time.

Thank You :)
