I need Filter advice

I keep getting a lot of algae on the glass and my artificial plants what's the best way to clear this do I need to change my bio Chem? Please help also I haven't changed my light for quite a while does this make a difference? Thanks

The light can make a difference, but there are several factors that can contribute to algae growth. Let's start with a little more info:

What kind of algae is it? If you aren't sure, can you describe it or post a pic? A positive ID will help identify possible leads on potential problems.

Tell us about the tank:

Size?
Age?
Stock?
Lighting (type of bulb, # of bulbs, duration, how old are the bulbs)?
Maintenance Schedule (how many water changes, how much, how often)?
Nitrate?
Phosphate (if available)?
Ammonia?
Nitrite?

Is the tank near any natural sunlight?
