I was just wondering if I need these I have quite a few species of pleco the reason I ask is because I have plenty of drift wood beings many plecos eat wood as part of there diet and I let one side of my tank grow crazy algae so I figured natural algae I don't need wafers right? Also I feed them blood worms flake and these bottom feeder pellets which is for my catfish but I see the plecos eating them from time to time also these frozen vegetable cube things and spectrum pellets for the rest of the fish I rotate the foods each feeding so as to put something different each time. Here is just a couple of my specimens

Fixed the spelling. Spirulina is a great food to incorporate into a fishes diet. It's not absolutely necessary to supplement plecos with spirulina wafers, but it does seem to help, especially if you have multiple in a tank, it helps make sure they are getting something to eat.

The wiki page has a lot of info on spirulina, it's considered a superfood in the health circles.
