This goes for any egg laying fish really. But I have a female GBR and her belly is looking quite pink today and I can kind of see her tube sticking out. When fish get like this do they still lay the eggs and just not get fertilized by a male or do they just not lay the eggs at all? If I can have an explanation why that would be nice too, thanks!

She will lay them but if there is no male to fertilize they will just wither away or be eaten.
