The tank is 20g.I plan to tranfer some media from my established tanks to seed it.The catch is its going to be a SW tank.....just to see if it would work or not....not going to be trying this with fish, but,

how much ammonia to dose to test bacterial survival?

Also...considering your answer, whats the target ppm?

How long would it last do ya think...assuming it works of coarse?

Never mind lol...I searched a little differently this time:

The bacteria are entirely different between fresh and salt water. Therefore, while the sequence of events in the nitrogen cycle are the same, the exact timing will vary and the tolerances are narrower in salt water. Also salt water provides lower oxygen levels than does fresh water. The bacteria associated with the nitrogen cycle need oxygen and will progressively cease to function at low oxygen levels. Natural sea water pH is 8.3 and lowering pH levels severely affects the metabolism of the nitrogen cycle bacteria.

Don't think I'll waste the time.
