The other day I was looking at my 55 gal tank and i saw my smaller marble angel fish attack a larger veiled angle fish. Usually the smaller one is being picked on. The smaller fish went straight for the larger one and both fish locked lips. Does anyone know what this means? Usually all my fish attack from the side or the back never in the front locking lips

I also have a smaller marble angel and a long veiled angel in a tank together and the marble one is always picking on the bigger one. And I also noticed the lip locking a few days ago.

I done some research and found that it is a test of dominance, and that eventually one angel will get the better of the other and this one will become dominant. I also found that it could be a sign that they are perhaps ready to spawn and are just testing the potential mate.

Not completely sure though, so hopefully someone else may know something we dont, lol. :p

Well I broke it up haha but I guess I'll let it be next time if it is dominance
