Any interest in drift wood?

Well I've pretty much given up on this idea as the only DW I can get is not hardwood and so it floats even when saturated with water. Also I found that the mosquitoes are laying eggs in the container I was using to soak the pieces in, I don't want to deal with that.

Toss em in the dishwasher (no soap) that worked for me
