hey everyone, I keep reading about heaters that have been stuck on and killed all of that persons fish. I came across a heater controller for $20..was wondering if anyone uses them?

Also are the inline heaters more reliable than the ones that go in the tank?

:thanks:

Maybe they kept the temp to high. They should turn on/off to match temp shown on dial. They may run more/less depending on room temp. I always leave mine on, no problems.

thanks but I meant I hear of heaters failing at a high rate. When the heater breaks, the theromstat will stick in the ON position, raising the temp and killing all of the fish

If that's the question, then don't all heaters come with a controller? Inlines are the same too. I'm just confused now. The only heater I know that did that was the stealth.
