Rams demonstrate parental care in that they guard their rock zealously. Also, my otos have never shown a tendency to eat anything other than the algae in the tank and the occasional cucumber and pea. They don't even eat algae wafers (54% shrimp meal) which my tetras devour.
I thought I read somewhere that otos will eat eggs, but I also forgot about the rams guarding their young
