Apple snails come in a lot of varieties, hence lumping them all in the mystery category. The real issue is actually the specie of apple snail. This is the short list:

Pomacea bridgessi (the most widely known, often referred to as "Golden" Apple snail)
Pomacea canaliculata
Pomacea insularum
Pomacea lineata
Pomacea doliodes
Pomacea haustrum
Pomacea maculata
