Aquarium safe?

I have a desktop figurine that Iíd like to put in my tank and Iíd like to know how to make it aquarium safe and protect the paint on it. Iíve seen other people do this before in their tanks, but I donít know how to protect the paint. Some people have suggested spray on silicone, krylon, spray acrylic, and epoxy. Would any of these work? Just looking for opinions on how to make it aquarium safe.
