Aquarium salt

I know this question has been probably been covered a 100 times but I can't get the search to work. I have all live bearers in my tank guppies, Molly's, platys, and a algae eater in my tank. Petsmart says must have aquarium salt. From the little tags at the bottom of pages I see it's a big debate. Can I get some input please. Thanks David

I don't see the need for it. I sat in on a presentation by a speaker (Joe Gargas) at a local fish meeting on the topic of aquarium water and he was strongly against the use of it. Yes, there are therapeutic uses for it (as in a dip) but for general use, no. That is just my opinion.
