i got a 1 gallon fish bowl i though might be handy for emergency quarantine or even sprouting plant bulbs in. probably is the previous owner's father filled it with hot grease and then cleaned it out with soap. what can i due to remove all traces of the soap?

Rinse it with household bleach and hot water. Then I would let it sit overnight with some warm water and dechlorinator to remove any leftover bleach.

And of course... rinse, rinse, rinse, rinse. And when you think it's clean, rinse some more!

Personally I wouldn't risk it, I would just throw it away and spend 12$ on a 10gallon tank for that purpose.
